NONE SHALL WANT HER MATE
Happy Easter! I want to specially welcome you to this month's teaching. By the special grace of God, I shall be ministering to the glorious single persons out there.
One major event in the life of an individual, whether male or female, is that of finding a suitable mate. God's Word says: Seek out of the book of the Lord, and read, no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them (Isaiah 34:16). It is my prayer that as many as will truly read this material and hold on to God and His Word, before the end of this year, shall be Biblically married in Jesus' name. My husband often says, "When you are due, you shall not be denied." I am glad to tell you that this is your set time!
This week, I shall be looking at What Marriage Is. Marriage is simply the union, the coming together of two people of opposite sexes with a view to building a God-centred home. Scripturally, this union is for a lifetime. It should, therefore, not be entered into unadvisedly. It is important to know what marriage is all about, before one says, "I do" to anyone.
Marriage is a unique relationship ordained by God, for a man and a woman to give and receive satisfaction for their healthy needs and desires. The relationship is unique because it involves the two individuals, spirit, soul and body. Spiritually, their lives must have been transformed, by being born again and becoming new creatures. This way, they belong to the same spiritual kingdom.
In the realm of the soul, both of them should have the same mind concerning various matters, especially, the principles of the doctrine of Christ as stated in Hebrews 6:1-2. Note that two cannot walk together except they be agreed (Amos 3:3). In the realm of the body, both must accept the fact that their bodies belong to each other, and be ready to share it with one another.
Marriage is not peculiar to any culture or country of the world. It is heaven's culture. It is, therefore, not traditional in any way, but scriptural. God's Word gives us guidance on what needs to be known about it, in order to make it successful. Since marriage was instituted by God Himself, anyone who wants success in his or her marriage should make God the centre of such a relationship. God is the only sure foundation for success in marriage.
God created marriage for men and women and it's natural to want to be married. God said everything about His creation was good. That is, everything except the fact that man was alone. God said that it was not good for Adam to be alone - to remain single. Adam needed a suitable mate. God's Word says: Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him." There is humor in this passage. Imagine Adam looking for a helpmate (Genesis 2:19-20). He needed someone like himself.
Adam knew he could not have a meaningful conversation with the animals. He wanted someone just like himself. Someone who could understand his human nature, someone who could communicate, and someone who could feel just as he did. God's Word says: And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man (Genesis 2:21-22).
As single persons, your strong foundation for married life is focusing on a strong walk with the Lord. The more you follow Him, stay in His Word, develop a strong prayer life, and live a lifestyle of Christian fellowship, the more discerning you will be in selecting a mate and the stronger your marriage relationship will be.
Are you ready to walk with the Lord beginning from today? Then surrender your life to Christ. This entails confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are ready for this new birth experience, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today, I am a sinner. I cannot help myself. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan, to serve the living God. I believe You died for me and on the third day, You rose that I might be justified. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into your kingdom. Now I know I am born again!
